●OmniVision's OS04C10 is a 2.0 micron pixel, 4 megapixel (MP) resolution image sensor for IoT and home security cameras. When paired with the designer's selected platform, the OS04C10 can enable system ultra-low power modes for battery-powered cameras with AI capabilities. In addition, it provides a high 2688 x 1520 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio, while adding the advanced near-infrared (NIR) and ultra-low-light, SNR1 performance of its Nyxel® and PureCel® Plus technologies. The sensor also provides multiple high dynamic range (HDR) options for the highest quality 4MP still and video capture of fast-moving objects at 60 frames per second.
●The OS04C10 is built on the PureCel® Plus pixel architecture, which enables an excellent low-noise design and provides an SNR1 that is 150% higher than OmniVision's previous generation OV4689 4MP mainstream security sensor. This new sensor maintains the same high 4MP resolution as the popular OV4689 while adding improved NIR, ultra-low-light, and HDR performance to these IoT and home security cameras, as well as a new ultra-low-power mode that consumes 98.9% less power than normal mode, extending battery life.
●OmniVision’s industry-leading NIR Nyxel® technology, combined with its PureCel® Plus technology and multiple HDR options, enables the OS04C10 to work equally well in all lighting conditions. It detects incident light in both visible and near-IR wavelengths while producing accurate color and monochrome images for security applications.
●The OS04C10 features Nyxel® technology, which delivers exceptional quantum efficiency (QE), enabling the sensor to see clearer and farther at both 850 nm and 940 nm near-IR wavelengths. This excellent QE also enables the use of low-power IR illumination in complete darkness, significantly reducing system-level power consumption. Additionally, in dark indoor environments, 940 nm near-IR light cannot be detected by the human eye, while 850 nm light is an ideal light source for outdoor security cameras. The OS04C10's ability to capture clear, crisp images using undetectable 940nm near-infrared light means that indoor security cameras will not disturb sleeping residents and can easily hide unwanted prowlers.

OS04C10 Image Sensor FAQ:
-
-
1. What is the resolution of the OS04C10 image sensor?
-
A: The OS04C10 image sensor offers a resolution of 2688 x 1520 with a 16:9 aspect ratio, making it suitable for applications such as IoT and home security cameras.
-
-
2. What advanced technologies does the OS04C10 image sensor use?
-
A: The OS04C10 image sensor combines OmniVision’s Nyxel® and PureCel® Plus technologies. Nyxel technology provides the OS04C10 with excellent quantum efficiency, enabling better vision at near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths of 850nm and 940nm. PureCel Plus technology enables an excellent low-noise design and improved image quality.
-
-
3. How does the OS04C10 image sensor perform in low-light environments?
-
A: The OS04C10 image sensor performs well in low-light environments. Its high quantum efficiency and PureCel Plus technology enable the sensor to use lower-power IR illumination in completely dark environments, thereby reducing system power consumption and capturing clear images in low-light conditions.
-
-
4. Does the OS04C10 image sensor support high dynamic range (HDR)?
-
A: Yes, the OS04C10 image sensor offers multiple high dynamic range (HDR) options, which can achieve a good balance between low-light image quality and HDR, and provides a staggered HDR option with double exposure to meet the shooting needs in different scenes.
-
-
5. Does the OS04C10 image sensor support AI functions?
-
A: The OS04C10 image sensor can enable ultra-low power consumption mode for battery-powered cameras with AI functions, which indicates that it supports or is compatible with AI functions, but the specific implementation may depend on the overall design and software integration with the camera.
-
-
6. What common problems may occur during the use of the OS04C10 image sensor?
-
A:Increased image noise: After long-term operation, the intrinsic excitation of semiconductor materials may intensify due to increased temperature, resulting in increased noise. This is usually related to the sensor material, and the back-end or software processing can slow down but not eliminate it.
-
Image color cast: Low or unstable analog voltage may cause image color cast. Make sure AVDD (analog voltage) is stable and high enough to avoid such problems.
-
Image stripes or ripples: This may be caused by timing problems or power supply noise. Check the routing of signal lines such as Hsync, PCLK, MCLK, etc. to ensure that they do not interfere with each other, and check the design of the power layer to reduce noise.
-
Poor HDR effect: If HDR is not set properly, it may cause the image to perform poorly in scenes with strong light and dark contrast. Adjust HDR settings to optimize image quality.
