The Raspberry Pi has released a new generation Raspberry PI Camera Module, Camera Module 3, based on SONY's IMX708 sensor.
The Camera Module 3 brings support for HDR and autofocus, up to 5 cm recently, as well as phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and contrast detection autofocus.
In addition, the sensor resolution of the new module is 11.9MP (8.1MP of the previous generation). HDR support means that the Camera Module 3 can take multiple exposures of the same scene and group them together so that both the darker and lighter parts of the image are properly exposed.
IT House has learned that the Camera Module 3 with a standard FOV starts at $25 (currently about 170 yuan), while the ultra-wide-angle version with a 102 degree field of view starts at $35 (currently about 237 yuan). The Raspberry PI has also launched an infrared version designed specifically for night photography.
In addition, Raspberry PI also introduced a new Camera module that supports M12 bayonet lenses, the High Quality Camera, which is equipped with a 12.3MP SONY IMX477 sensor, and added support for "fisheye lenses and other professional lenses."
